The close proximity of our offices to the Calcutta High Court, National Company Law Tribunal, City Civil Court, Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Debt Recovery and Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal allows our team the flexibility to undertake multiple matters in different courts in the same day. The versatility of our practice is reflected in our diverse clientele.
The firm is spearheaded by Mr. Paritosh Sinha, who apart from running the firm, has also served as the Advocate-on-Record for the State of West Bengal handling all matters concerning the Government of West Bengal in the Original Jurisdiction of the Calcutta High Court. Currently, Sinha and Company employs over a hundred employees with close to forty licensed lawyers.
The advocates have engaged in conducting litigation at all levels apart from skilfully drafting documents for the conveyance of property, agreements and contracts. Sinha and Company is well-known in the legal fraternity for its capacity to provide end-to-end services, regularly being engaged as solicitors in numerous high-stake matters. Our associates are encouraged to argue matters themselves; in the event a said matter requires the expertise of a legal counsel, the firm is able to brief the best counsels and barristers in the Calcutta High Court on the merit of its long-standing relationship with them. Mr. Paritosh Sinha:
A Visionary
In his own words, Paritosh Sinha – the founder of Sinha and Company, Advocates – found it natural to gravitate towards the practice of law, given his family's long-time association with this world. Sinha's grandfather and great-grandfather were lawyers in a district of Uttar Pradesh. Besides, his father served as the Head of the Legal Department at Indian Oil Corporation (Eastern Region). Thus, his familial connection with the realm of law served as a major influence on him.
Having graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, following his forefathers Sinha chose to attend law school at Lucknow University in 1987. He was bestowed with the responsibility of independently dealing with complex arbitration and probate matters on behalf of his firm.
Sinha took the plunge in 1993 by founding Sinha and Company, commencing his independent practice in a 200 sq.ft. office - a clerk and a peon accompanying him on this journey.
A champion institution-builder, Sinha transformed an idea which started with limited capital and three employees into a project currently with three-branch offices across the country employing more than one hundred people. A master litigation strategist who thoroughly enjoys the complexities of commercial litigation and arbitration, Sinha has emerged as the go-to legal advisor for industry leaders.
A leading practioner of the Solicitor Bar, in 2011 Sinha was appointed the Advocate-on-Record for the State of West Bengal; he is responsible for representing the government of West Bengal before the Original Side of the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta. And, above all, Paritosh Sinha strongly believes that a professional must not just be committed to his profession but also to his society. But Sinha puts this belief to practice by leading various organizations where he works for the welfare of the legal community and the enhancement of its image.
